In the clash between Chinese outsiders Weibo Gaming and three-times-champions T1, the suspense quickly gave room to the Koreans’ smashing victory, in front of a pretty loud audience, in Seoul.

Although they’re last title was won in 2016, Sang-hyeok “Faker” Lee and his squadmates glided over the finals, whose longest game lasted barely over 30 minutes. In three masters-like performances, showing cohesion and determination, the Korean swept Weibo Gaming away (3-0).
It is true that T1 got to train against Chinese teams during the competition, defeating Bilibili Gaming, LNG Esports and JD Gaming on their path to the title. Weibo Gaming was then just another hill to climb for Faker’s squad.
Seven years after their last victory, T1 is quietly climbing again on top of the world. On top of resisting the Chinese dominance of the international scene, the Koreans win about half-a-million dollars and add to their own world-title records.
