Lionel Messi becomes owner of club KRÜ Esports!
It is yet another famous name of traditional sports that is now all over the esport headlines - and yet another bridge between both sectors. Although some observers were skeptical at the patency between sports and esports, the involvement of one of the current’s greatest football players in an esport structure should put an end to the debate.

Indeed, it is none other than Lionel Messi, who recently became the owner of club KRÜ Esports - a club founded in 2020 by former Argentinian international Sergio Agüero, who was once Messi’s teammate in selection.
Agüero had put an end to his pro-footballer career for health reasons, after a cardiac episode in the middle of a game, which forced the “Kun” into retirement. Ever since, the former athlete got involved into esport and is notably all over Twitch.
In just three years, KRÜ Esports became an unmissable squad in Latin-American leagues, on games such as Valorant and Rocket Leauge. With Messi’s introduction into the club, its activities might now spread to other games, on top of taking advantage of the eight-times Ballon d’Or’s huge experience.
