Faker becomes Korean national treasure!

Anyone who ever looked into League of Legends’ pro-scene has heard the name of Faker. The 27 year-old Korean, whose full name is Sang-hyeok Lee, is considered the best player in the history of Riot Games’ MOBA.

Nicknamed the “Messi of esport”, Faker was recruited in 2013 by structure SK Telecom to play in LCK - Korea’s championship, in a position of midlaner. He quickly showed that he was one of the most talented gamers in what is often called the toughest league internationally. The same year, he won his first world championship title, before winning again in 2015 and 2016.

Followed then a period of six years during which the level got internationally higher, notably with the arrival of the Chinese teams. SK Telecom T1 reached the semi-finals of the Worlds 2019 and the second place in 2022, under the name “T1”.

Eventually, seven years after their last title, Faker led his teammates to a new world champion title, during the Worlds 2023. Already a worldwide celebrity, Faker now rivals the idols of k-pop, thanks to this victory at home. He also writes his name ever higher in League of Legends’ history. He is now officially four-time world champion and incumbent winner… Until next year.
